Travel at your leisure – experience Helgeland
The moments that truly enrich your life are the detours, delays and taking the long way around! Take a detour or alternative route and enjoy moments of fleeting joy which you might otherwise have missed out on. Set a course for the Helgeland region of Nordland county and take part in a variety of nature-related and cultural activities which will do your body and soul well.
Helgeland Coastline – The World’s Most Beautiful Island World
Come visit the Helgeland coastline along Kystriksveien – perhaps the world’s most beautiful coastal route. More than 12,000 islets and skerries with white sandy beaches await adventurous tourists along highway Rv 17, from Sømna in the south to the Land of the Arctic Circle and Rødøy in the north. This island world offers visitors active and intense vacation experiences such as island-hopping via bicycle, The Seven Sisters mountain chain, Torghatten island, Ocean Fishing, and kayaking to name but a few of the many possibilities...
Inland Area – Wilderness and Outdoor ExperiencesWhile driving up from the south via E6, you enter the Helgeland region once you are a mere 300 km north of Trondheim. Helgeland’s inland municipalities feature some of the best hiking terrain in all of Norway, including Børgefjell National Park and the wilderness municipality of Hattfjelldal – with over 2,000 fishing lakes. Or take a stroll along the Sjøgata promenade in Mosjøen – a living museum with preserved buildings dating from the 1800s. In Rana, farther north, lies the gateway to Svartisen glacier and Norway’s most extensive caving experiences.
